Ice Skating Safety Advice
Please follow the advice below so that you have a safe and enjoyable skate.
Please
- Skate in an anti-clockwise direction unless directed by the stewards
- Limit chains to two people going slowly
- Only eat and drink in the spectator area
- Wear appropriate clothing and ensure elbows and knees are covered for protection
- Wear warm gloves as they will protect your hands from cold and help cushion any fall
- Wear thick socks
- Wear your entrance band at all times when in the rink
- Stay close to the barrier if you are a beginner
- Get up as quickly as possible if you fall. The stewards will assist if you have difficulty getting to your feet
Please note that
- Shoes must be left as a deposit for skate hire
- Stewards will be happy to advise on how to lace your boots correctly if asked
- Skates must be returned with laces tucked into the boots
- Speed skating is not allowed
- Photography or use of video camera equipment is not allowed without written consent from a manager
- Mobile phones should not be used on the ice
Please refrain from
- Wearing hats, long coats, scarves or loose head gear including hairclips
- Running or playing tag
- Sitting or climbing on, or interfering with the barriers and nets
- Spraying or throwing of ice
- Behaviour that may cause offence to others
