Badminton

Pay and play badminton

We have up to twelve courts available for 'pay and play'. More competitive players may wish to join the badminton club and we also run a badminton clinic.

Programme

Pay and play booking slots are 55 minutes, starting on the half hour on Sundays to Fridays and on the hour on Saturdays.

* Off peak times are 9.30am - 3.30pm weekdays term time (depending on availability). Bank holidays excluded.

Bookings

Courts can be booked seven days in advance of play by members and five days in advance by non-members. Call reception from 8am, e-book from 8.15am, or make a booking in person. For full information see booking terms and conditions.

Prices

A 55 minute court booking for adults costs £12.80 or £10.50 for members. Off peak bookings (term time weekdays up to 3.30pm) cost £8.50 or £7 for members.

Badminton Sessions

Sessions will be run by qualified coaches of the Badminton England Association. Whilst training and coaching are an integral part of the session, we are happy for players to turn up and play games only. Choice of session partners is at the discretion of the coach. Rackets are not provided.

Category of playing level

Beginners - must have some basic skills and knowledge of the game
Improvers - players who have played badminton for more than 3 years
Intermediate - players with good racket skills and tactical knowledge

Fridays

7.30 - 10.30pm Improver / intermediate adult players and advanced juniors (15yrs +) players only. Session is in a games format. No coaching provided.

Sundays

4 - 6.30pm Beginners and improver players. Session is in a games format. No coaching provided.

4.30 - 6.30pm Juniors only - all ages and abilities. Session is in a games format and is coached.

No Strings Badminton Sessions

No Strings badminton sessions are all about fun, friends and fitness. Grab a racket, rally around friends and head on court in this sociable pay and play session run in partnership with Badminton England. Sessions run on Saturdays from 12pm - 2pm. No need to book, just turn up.

Sobell Badminton Club

For those players who are looking for more of a challenge and are interested in playing in league matches or to that standard, please contact Tariq Shamsudeen on 07768 748942 or visit the Sobell Badminton Club website. The Sobell Badminton Club play every Tuesday from 7.30 - 10.30pm and Sunday from 6.30 - 9.30pm. Guests are welcome to pop down.

Prices

A club session for adults costs £7 or £6 for members. A club session for juniors costs £4.70 or £3.70 for members and £2.70 member concessions.

Junior Badminton Club

Coached sessions with organised games. Sessions run on Saturdays
10am - 12noon and last for 2 hours. There is no need to book, just turn up and play. Equipment will be provided or you may bring your own. Players of all abilities are welcome.

Price: £4.70 standard or £3.70 for members.

Equipment

Badminton rackets cost £2.10 to hire. A £5 deposit is required from non members, members can leave their membership card. Various equipment can be purchased at Reception.
