Pilates

Pilates was originally developed by Joseph Pilates during the First World War to improve the rehabilitation programme for returning veterans.  He based his method on two key principles, the first being that the mind controls muscles. The second being that by strengthening core muscles, you can align, balance and strengthen your whole body.

Pilates is suitable for people of all abilities as it builds strength using low impact, low repetition, stretching exercises.

Pilates classes are part of our Body & Soul exercise class group as they help to promote good posture, balance, strength, flexibility and well being.
