About the centre
Keynsham Leisure Centre was built as a gift to the people of Keynsham by British Gas, who had a large office complex above the centre. Overlooking Chew Park, it was opened in 1976 by former Leeds United and England manager Don Revie.
The centre has been chosen by sporting celebrities to promote sport to young people. Visitors have included Suzanne Dando, Sharon Davis, Terry Jacks and Neil Adams. There is a wide range of activities available for young people, and the centre is renowned for it’s holiday programmes.
The centre has undergone several refurbishments over the last 32 years. In 1993, following a fire in a sauna, there was a massive reconstruction to the centre, including the introduction of a fitness gym. In 2007 new cardio vascular equipment was introduced and there was a refurbishment of the reception.
Keynsham is home to many teams and sports clubs including the very successful Keynsham Swimming Club and the Keynsham Seals, which is a disabled group.
Our centre has a Charter Mark standard for customer service.
