Participants Play Tennis at Congress for Blind Tennis

Join Metro Blind Sport for cheese and wine at Islington Tennis Centre  Friday 21 March 2014 at 8pm as volunteers Amanda and Odette share their experiences at the 1st ever Congress on Blind Tennis in Texas, USA.

Odette Battarel Communities Network Manager at the Thomas Pocklington Trust said:

Amanda and I met coaches and players from all over the world at the Congress and agreed to a set of international rules both for totally blind players and partially sighted. Another highlight of our trip was conducting a visually impaired tennis demonstration in Mexico and Texas.

Islington Tennis Centre have a great partnership with Metro Blind Sport. This event is an opportunity to hear the latest innovations and global news in tennis for blind and partially sighted people.

Metro Blind Sport’s tennis sessions at Islington Tennis Centre use specially-adapted soundballs that allow players to hear the ball coming. Sessions are available for beginners and advanced players who can rally, meaning anyone with a visual impairment can play, including those who are totally blind.
