About the centre
Culverhay Sports Centre is a dual use facility
shared by Culverhay Boys School and the surrounding
community.
The swimming pool was originally open air and many
of today's Dads remember learning to swim there as school boys
during their PE lessons. A new sports centre was built round the
pool in the early 1990s and was officially opened on 12 September
1991 by Sharon Davies, MBE.
Culverhay Sports Centre has benefited from some
recent upgrades. There is now a multi-purpose floodlit outdoor
pitch ideal for football and basketball. The changing rooms have
been refurbished with new lockers. There has also been a lot of
behind the scenes work with upgrades to the water filters, air
handling units and new ceilings installed. The gym has benefited
from a recent refurbishment and upgrade of equipment.
Culverhay Sports Centre offers a wide variety of sports which
includes badminton, 5-a-side, basketball, children's parties and
swimming lessons. It is also the home of Bath Bubble Scuba Club,
Dive Zone, Culverhay Tae Kwon Do Club and Bath Rhythmic Gymnastics
Club.
Culverhay is a small friendly centre and offers free
parking.
