Tennis development

We run a very active and successful tennis development programme in Islington and would be pleased to extend this into other localities.  

The Islington Tennis Centre is one of the busiest tennis centres in the country and holds Lawn Tennis Association Beacon Accreditation, Clubmark Accreditation and Satellite Performance Accreditation.

Our performance programme is growing and currently attracts 40 children who attend three times a week. The programme has produced three top 10 players nationally in the under 11s category. Roberto Precker and Brandon Drew are ranked 1 and 2 respectively in the Middlesex under 11s age group.

Our well established junior grassroots/development programme is thriving and attracts 250 children a week onto a structured programme.

Our adult coaching programme, including a summer programme at Highbury Fields, runs at almost 100% capacity with a weekly average attendance of 115 players.

Our Highbury Fields City Tennis Club attracts 130 junior visits a week during the summer months and still retains 18 young people visiting throughout the winter.

We offer extensive competitive opportunities to juniors on all parts of our programme including AEGON Junior Team Tennis, Middlesex Match Play, school holiday tournaments, London Youth Games, Middlesex County Junior Tournaments.

We arrange day trips for juniors on our programmes to the big tennis events such as Wimbledon, AEGON and Masters.

We are very proud that Anna Keothavong, currently ranked British number 1 women's tennis player, started her tennis in Islington and attended our junior programme.
